Last week, SmartForest Postdoctoral fellow Alexander Scharf presented his work on the technical aspects of single log traceability at the ForestryBoost workshop in Åsele, Sweden. The workshop was hosted by Logscom AB and the University of Freiburg and focused on digital traceability in the timber supply chain, particularly in light of the EUDR and upcoming Digital Product Passport requirements.
Multiple industry and research actors presented ongoing initiatives, and discussions focused on operational benefits of tracking, cost allocation along the value chain, and opportunities for monetisation through precision forestry and standardized data exchange.
